Shopify Product Page Checklist: 10 Things That Help Visitors Buy

The product page is where a visitor decides to buy or leave. Most pages that struggle are missing a few basics rather than needing a full redesign. Use this checklist, fix the gaps in order, and change one thing at a time so you can see what helped.

1. A clear first screen

Within the first screen on a phone, a visitor should see the product name, price, a main image and the Add to Cart button. If they have to scroll to find the price or the button, fix that first.

2. Strong, consistent photos

Use several clear images: the product on its own, in use, close-ups and one showing scale. Keep the lighting and background consistent across the catalog. Add a short video if you have one, but keep the page light.

3. A description that is easy to scan

Lead with who the product is for and the main benefit, then use short bullet points for materials, size, care and what is in the box. Long unbroken paragraphs are rarely read on mobile.

4. Real reviews near the top

Show the star rating and review count near the title, and real reviews lower on the page. If you have none yet, ask your first customers for a review with a photo, and do not invent any.

5. Shipping and returns beside the button

State the delivery time, shipping cost and returns policy in a line near Add to Cart. New stores lose many sales to this single doubt.

6. Clear variants and sizing

Make color and size selectors obvious, show which options are out of stock, and add a size chart with measurements. Show it once, in one place.

7. Trust signals

Show accepted payment methods, a secure checkout note and a contact route such as an email or WhatsApp link. Make sure your policy pages are easy to find from the footer.

8. Short, clean product names

Replace long supplier titles with the product style plus one key detail. This reads better on the page, in search results and in ads.

9. Helpful related products

Offer a few relevant add-ons or alternatives below the main section, not above it, so they support the sale and do not distract from it.

10. A mobile check on a real phone

Open the page on your own phone over mobile data. Check that the button is easy to tap, the text is readable and nothing shifts while loading.

How to test changes

Change one element at a time, such as the first image, the shipping line or the button text, and compare results over a few weeks of normal traffic. Judge by completed orders and add-to-cart rate, not only by clicks.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most important part of a product page?
There is no single part. The first screen on mobile, the photos and a clear shipping and returns line near the button are usually the best places to start.

How many product photos do I need?
Enough to answer a shopper’s questions: usually four to six that show the product from different angles, in use and at scale.

Can you review my product pages?
Yes. Send your store link and I will send a short free written review with the first fixes I would make.

Want your product pages looked at?
